About us
The Docklands Demons Ice Racing Club was established in June 2017 with the purpose of growing the sport of short track speed skating in Victoria. Our Patron is 6 time Winter Olympian, Colin Coates OAM.
Members
As one of Australia’s largest speed skating clubs, we proudly support members of all ages and abilities. Our members range in age from 7 to 83 years and over 45% are female. As a Not-for-Profit organisation, we support our members through our equipment and uniform loan program to ensure they have the best opportunity to train, race and improve their skills using the best equipment.

Coaches
Our coaches are accredited with Australian Ice Racing and continue to expand their skill sets by engaging with the international coaching community.

Bill Younger
Club coach
Bill began coaching in 1978 and helped create Australia’s first Learn to Speed Skate program which is still used today. He obtained his coaching accreditation through the Australian Institute of Sport. Six Winter Olympians began their journey with Bill.

Carolyn Phillips
Club coach
Carolyn Phillips is a Level 1 short track coach who focuses on short track technique as well as engaging new skating skills. Carolyn not only coaches but still competes and thoroughly enjoys the coaching side of the sport.
Committee
The committee is responsible for the governance of the club, including engagement with the Victorian Government, Australian Ice Racing and the Victorian Ice Racing Association, membership recruitment and retention, member welfare and benefits, culture, volunteers, club assets and so much more.
